Itinerary Overview

This tour departs from Arusha, travels to the Marangu Gate, then hikes through rainforest to the Mandara Hut area on the Marangu Route. You’ll enjoy picnic lunch en route, take time to soak in the atmosphere at altitude, then descend back and return to Arusha by evening.

Day Activities

Morning: Pickup & Drive to Marangu Gate

Your hotel pickup in Arusha is early (around 07:00 hrs) and you’ll drive approximately 3 hours to Marangu Gate to register with park authorities.

Late Morning to Afternoon: Hike to Mandara Hut

Begin the hike at the gate through lush rainforest filled with birdlife and monkeys. Enjoy a picnic lunch as you reach the Mandara Hut area around 14:00 hrs, then pause for rest and views.

Afternoon to Evening: Descend & Return to Arusha

After rest at the hut, you’ll descend back to Marangu Gate (approx. 2.5 hrs) where your vehicle awaits, then transfer back to Arusha arriving around 20:00 hrs.
